Things to do in Quindio
Located in the town of Calarca, 7 km away from Armenia. An enclosed natural forest area, it displays a complete ecosystem of flora and fauna. It has an Insectarium and butterfly garden. Open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Tuesdays during off-season. Open daily during high season.
National Coffee Park
In addition to the Coffee Museum, the Coffee Farm and the Forest of Myths and Legends, the park features other attractions such as the Coffee Show, a cable car, several mechanical rides, horseback riding, and a wide variety of cuisine. Trip duration: 1 full day. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during high season; during off-season, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Children under 90 cm (3 ft) high do not pay entrance fee.
National Park of the Agricultural Culture, PANACA
Interactive theme park, with the largest variety in the world of domestic zoology, including 4,000 animals in 8 stations (livestock, poultry, swine, sericulture, bioorganic, dogs, and horses), complemented with exhibitions and special shows. Adult and child passes available. Children under 80 cm (2'8") high do not pay entrance fee. Pass includes park admission and all exhibits. This program is for one day, at least six hours. Sunscreen, hat, comfortable shoes and fresh clothing are recommended.
National Center for the Study of Bamboo - Guadua
Located in the municipality of Cordoba, 22 km away from Armenia, in the km 1 on the road that leads from Rio Verde to Cordoba. Facility dedicated to scientific research and the use of bamboo as an autochthonous element of architecture and craftsmanship in Quindio. Travel time of approximately 2 hours. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Located in the municipality of Salento, 36 km away from Armenia. Habitat of our national tree, the wax palm, as well as of hummingbirds, orchids and other species. In this area, you can carry out horseback riding and ecological hikes to the rain forest and the Acaimo natural reserve. HISTORICAL CENTER OF SALENTO. Located at 24 km from Armenia, Salento is a typical village of the Antioquian colonization; its historic center is comprised of the main park and the houses located between the 5th and 6th streets.
This attraction is located in the north of the city of Armenia, where you will see how our ancestors lived in the past, while at the same time appreciating the most beautiful display of gold. This permanent archeological exhibition of the Gold Museum, from the Bank of the Republic, is a milestone of great cultural significance, designed by the architect Rogelio Salmona and awarded the "National Prize of Biennial Architecture 1986-1987". Its tour takes visitors from the beginning of the American settlement and the Old Caldas region until the present. It has a temporary exhibition hall, a regional documentation centre, a reading room, an open air theater, parking, beautiful gardens and a coffee shop.
